Description
Zero 140 Moon Riserva by Enrico Serafino is a perfect expression of the power of Alta Langa Metodo Classico. A classic blend with a touch of Piedmontese excellence, the wine spends 13 years in waiting, with more than 110,000 uninterrupted hours of processing from the harvest to refinement on the lees and disgorgement. The extraordinary processing gives this wine unique character and presents the essence of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to their best expression.
The colour on the bottle changes at each vintage according to the "Theory of Colours and Planets": the 2009 Red, the fifth vintage produced, is dedicated to the Moon.
The grapes are hand-selected on the vibrating table and pressed in an inert environment with a yield in free-run must of 45%. The entire process takes place without the use of conveyors in order to treat the grapes as delicately as possible. The must is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature and kept for 6 months on the lees with bâtonnage. Foaming is carried out according to the traditional method of bottle fermentation, with aging on the lees for 140 months, avoiding any dosage and late disgorgement.
Tasting Notes
At first glance, the wine is straw-yellow with golden hues with fine and persistent perlage. Take a sniff and you'll find complex aromas with hints of candied fruits, honey, toasted hazelnuts, vanilla and bread crust.
On the palate the wine is complex, and creamy, full-bodied, elegant and intense with vibrant texture and pleasant acidity followed by a very long mineral and emotional finish.
Food Pairings
This work of art is excellent to enjoy on it's own and fully experience the wines unique character. You can also pair it with your favourite aperitivo, foie gras, shellfish and complex dishes.
Why Do We Love It?
This Alta Langa is unlike any other, with a complex aging process the wine reflects a true excellence of the DOCG.
