VikeVike's unique Barbagia Bianco wine is a rare find.
A white wine produced entirely with Granazza, a native grape that only grows in the region of Barbagia, near Mamoiada. Some believe it to be related to the local Nuragus grape as well.
The vines are grown in the low bush trained alberello style typical of Sardinia, allowing them protection from the sun. The wine is immediately removed from the skins, then left to ferment spontaneously.
It spends only one month refining in the bottle before being released.
It is a fairly bold white wine, with a softer character. You'll find notes of pear, apple, and even juicy peach. Underneath you'll notice a nutty character of almond and chestnut.
It has a slight mineral note, but is a fairly soft wine.
This wine goes well with an aperitivo of fresh cheeses and cured meats, as well as first courses of fish.
Why Do We Love It?
A truly one-of-a-kind wine, made with a unique grape of Sardinia and the craftsmanship of VikeVike.
