Appellation Barolo DOCG
Alcohol volume 14,5%
Serving Temperature 18°-20°C
A Barolo DOCG from mixed vineyards in the Barolo municipalities.
The grapes are handpicked, here they are macerated slightly less than Pico Maccario's Serralunga Barolo, they macerate about 13 days, then the wine is aged 18 months in Slavonian oak, taking another year to refine in the bottle before release.
This is an elegant Barolo, perfect to open this year or to allow for another year or so in the cellar. It has complex aromas, leading with strong dried flowers like roses and lavender. There is also a strong sour cherry note that stands out. In the mouth, this wine has velvety tannins, a refreshing character with a full body and strong structure. A wine that persists in the mouth.
This is a Barolo that is lovely on its own, once your belly has been filled with a little aperitivo. Or it can pair well with herby roast meat, nothing too heavy, but a dish with earthen flavours like mushrooms or char.
Each of Pico Maccario's wines come in a tin case in the form of a coloured pencil, these are a symbol of their vineyards, which they have decorated with colourful pencil-shaped poles to bring life to their vineyard. Their marking to express their perspective of the Langhe hills.
