Barolo Serralunga d'Alba by Pico Maccario is made with nebbiolo grapes exclusively from the municipality of Serralunga d'Alba, one of the most prestigious towns of the Barolo DOCG area. This was one of the areas the royal family Savoy acquired land and began producing their very own Barolo.
This particular bottle by Pico Maccario is made with hand-picked Nebbiolo grapes, that are macerated for 15 days. The wine spends 18 months in Slavonian oak casks, then an additional year refining in the bottle. It has intense aromas that fill the nose with scents of vanilla, spices and dried roses. Once you take a sip you'll experience a velvety tannin sensation, with a balanced flavour, and a persistent finish.
This is an elegant Barolo, a great starting point for those who have never tasted the Piedmontese King of wines, it is best enjoyed with a hearty meal of roast meat or pasta with a tomato-based sauce.
Each of Pico Maccario's wines come in a tin case in the form of a coloured pencil, these are a symbol of their vineyards, which they have decorated with colourful pencil shaped poles to bring life to their vineyard. Their own personal marking to express their perspective of the Langhe hills.
