Description

The Grasso d’Alpe Bognanco Valley cheese is a delicious traditional cheese from the Ossola Valley. The history of cheesemaking in the pastures in Val d’Ossola is documented since the 10th century. The Ossola mountains offer vast expanses and are well sheltered from the winds even at high altitudes. These are perfect for grazing animals and, the local mountain dwellers through the centuries have been able to create excellent cheese.

The Bognanco Valley pasture is located 2000 meters high, above the little village of Bognanco. There is a very limited production of Grasso d’Alpe, with only a few hundred forms each year. The final result is a semi-aged cheese with a straw colour, and compact.

We suggest enjoying it with a medium-bodied red wine, drizzled with aromatic honey or on top grissini.

Wine and all bottles in general are shipped in inflatable bags, designed to protect them throughout their journey. Please note that all packaging can be easily reused.
