Malloreddus are also known as "Gnocchetto sardo", this pasta is either medium or small in size depending on where in Sardinia it is made. The Malloreddus produced by Il Pastificio dei Profeti draw their inspiration from the southern part of the island, where they are larger and thicker with deeper grooves that hold the sauces better.
In Sardinian dialect, 'malloreddus' is reminiscent of the pot-bellied shape of baby calves in agro-pastoral culture.
The best recipe for Malloreddus is with sausage sauce and sweet Pecorino Sardo, a sauce typical of the Campidano area. A great idea to know what to bring to the table for the next family lunch!
The pasta is made from 100% organic Italian wheat and follows the traditional process of being bronze drawn and left to dry slowly at a natural temperature.
