Maremma Toscana DOC “Śazar”

Śazar is a 100% Alicante expression, also known as Cannanou, this variety thrives in the area of the Maremma.

The name "Śazar" means 16 in ancient Etruscan, the names of all Le Stadère's wines are chosen as a tribute to the ancient civilization that cultivated wine in these lands. Sixteen was a sacred number in the Etruscan religion, all their heavens, cosmology theories, and time was broken into a system of 16. This is a link between the sky, the position of the sun, and the earth reflecting the role of nature in winemaking: where Le Stadère listens to it and lets themselves be guided by it.

Tasting Notes

Śazar is subtle, balanced, elegant, and fruity wine. It is vinified in stainless steel then left to refine in the bottle for 14-15 months before release. This clean vinification provides a striking ruby red wine with expressive aromas of cherry and small ripe red berries. It is a balanced wine with round tannins, and a refreshing acidity making it a very easy to drink wine.

Food Pairings

This is a red wine that can be paired excellently with seafood for its refreshing character, or enjoy it with tagliatelle and rooster suet with scrub herbs.

Sazar is an excellent easy drinking, refreshing expression of Alicante, one that can be enjoyed throughout the day, with an aperitivo and through dinner.
