An Emilian classic

Description

Nocino, or Nusèinn as it is called in the Emilian dialect, originates from an ancient traditional recipe from the Reggio Emilia Apennines that has been handed down from generation to generation in the family of the Denti brothers of Mistico Speziale.
It is a traditional liqueur from Emilia Romagna, made from the walnut husk, the fleshy, inedible part that surrounds the walnut and contains tannins, oils and vitamins. Legend has it that in ancient times it was drunk by witches as an elixir on midsummer night and that it contained magical powers.

Unfortunately, this liqueur does not contain any magic spells, but its magic lies in the passion that the brothers Saverio and Valentina put into each stage of production: the walnuts are harvested at the correct balsamic time, on the night of St John's Day on 24 June, and are cut exclusively with ceramic knives so as not to oxidise the fruit and to retain all its beneficial properties.

Nocino is so deeply rooted in the Emilian tradition that in 1978 an association was founded in the province of Modena called the Order of Nocino Modenese with the mission of promoting and safeguarding this liqueur.

It is recommended by herbalist tradition as a digestive, tonic and against liver disorders.
Nocino lends itself very well to being paired with well-aged Parmigiano Reggiano for a sensory journey through the hills of Emilia. If added to coffee for alcoholic correction or dipped in a bowl of ice cream, it makes your greedy moments unique and special.
